Lessons from a candle

Tonight, before friends came over I put several different candles around each table.  As the night began we lit the candles.  It was quite eye opening to see the candles sitting low to the table really didn’t help bring much light while the candles that were taller reached out further removing the darkness around us – it seemed to be the taller the candle – the greater the expanse of light.

Our lives are like candles- Being light- Bringing light- In the stores- at the parks- standing in line- in the highways and byways.

Is our light close to the table or are we standing – loving- un-ashamed– of His story – sharing- giving- light?

There’s no darkness it’s the absence of Light’ (unknown author)

“You are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden” Matt 5:14

“I’m not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith” Romans 1: 16–17
